My mother took a seriously-needed mental health day,and every day is a mental health day for me, so we hit McClendon Hardware for seeds and germination wells for me, and Mom went crazy in the giant glazed pot sale. When we came home, she potted and I filled 5 72-well flats (that's 360 seeds, not counting the ones that got two, three, or four seeds in each well, like the tomatillos and sweet peppers). We had the iHome on, listening to (what else?) the Crazy Heart soundtrack, and I think I got a sunburn on my back.
What did I plant, you ask? Tomatillos, of course, Ground Cherries (small, sweet, yellow tomatillos), a variety pack of long garden beans, a gourmet mix of eggplant, a "Carnival Mix" of small, sweet bell peppers, Thai basil, Italian large leaf basil (we've had pretty bad luck with basil in this cold spring), and a mix of pretty frightening mix of hot chiles: cayenne, hungarian wax, serrano, habenaro, hot cherry, and "other hot chili types." It's the "other" that scares me most.
Oh, yeah, definitely a sunburn on this ginger girl. I can feel it already.
Oh, can I say ew! to thre 3 men who hit on me in the garden center? One tried to chat me up over the tomato starts! That reminds me: I got 2 acorn squash starts (7 plants total), 1 spaghetti squash (3 plants), and, as if the 40-something tomato plants I have aren't enough, I got one called Lemon Boy.
I resisted the urge to buy a lemon balm plant, since I have no idea what to do with it. It just smelled heavenly.
Now I'm watching a documentary on Johnny Cash and, yeah, I still think Kris Kristofferson is hot. I have to get up in an hour and start making dinner - homemade chicken soup. I haven't made it before, but how hard can it be? Mom's here in an emergency, so it will be fine. Right?
My god, I need a cocktail.
Ess, bench, sei a mensch!
