Chocolate Cake for Breakfast!

For those old enough to remember "Bill Cosby, Himself," you get the joke.  For those youngsters, Bill Cosby used to be more interesting than Jell-O Pudding Pops.

Okay, it wasn't chocolate cake, but angel food cake with homemade, vanilla bean whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and chocolate sauce, all made by my kick-ass mom and my beautiful daughter, Beverlee.  So, my mom decided that we have a new family tradition: birthday cake for breakfast, since we're all too full after dinner to devour sugar.

Fun, fun, fun.  Bev rocked the tortilla press for the plantains last night, as always.  That's always her job for Cuban night.  She's also a fantastic cheese grater, pot stirrer, and blueberry picker.  We need more blueberries...

I spent most of today napping with Howie, our quickly deteriorating Maine Coon, and trying to recover from being up until 3 a.m.  At 11:00 a.m., only my mom was awake.  We all crashed so hard.

Unfortunately, Bev has to go back to school tomorrow, Mom and Lou have to go to work, and I'm left alone to watch Fame reruns all day.

Ess, bench, sei a mensch!

  2. I can't stop laughing at this! Lou and I LOVE that routine by Bill Cosby! Even those of us with only one kid can get sucked into the "praise for cake" breakfast routine.
